Dear PCST members -
As some of you already know, I am currently in the last phase of
constructing an Encyclopedia of Science and Technology Communication for
Sage Publications. This is a huge project with over 300 entries about our
field, ranging from current science-related controversies and "hot topics"
in the news to entries about important organizations, biographies of
well-known science communicators, new approaches to science communication
work, science and society issues, and the application of media and public
opinion theory to science. The entries are being written to be broadly
accessible: a key audience is undergraduate college students interested in
our area, but the collection should also be of interest to students at
other levels, scholars doing research in the field, and working science
communicators.
While over 80% of the material has been assigned (and most of those
entries have already been completed), I am still looking for authors for
some of the remaining entries, so I am issuing this call for further
participation to all PCST members and interested others. Opening this link
in your web browser should take you to a Word document that lists the
entries that still need authors:

This list is constantly changing so please email me at
susanna.priest at unlv.edu with your interests and I'll check the current
status. Suggestions for additional entries are also still very much
welcome. A CV, short bio, or link to a bio page would also be useful in
matching potential authors to what still needs to be written. For most
entries, authors are expected to have some related expertise; however,
many of the remaining entries are biographies or organizational
descriptions that could be entirely appropriate for more junior authors,
including postgraduate students.
I am sorry to say there is no budget to pay authors for this work;
however, a modest allowance in the form of free Sage books is available to
contributors.
