[PCST] New Magazine on Science Journalism

Dear all,

I have the pleasure to announce the very first outcome of our idea to launch an international magazine reflecting on science journalism. The issue can be seen as a messenger for such a magazine we are planing to publish regularly (free download under www.wpk.org).  

The title: Who is fooling whom? We present examples where science fooled journalism. We question whether the information provided about the radar system that is going to be installed in the Czech Republic is true. We reflect upon the tendency within journalism to fool recipients, mainly unconsciously, with spectacular and attractive science pics. Apart from our focal theme, we explain how a journalist from Finland can live in the heart of the forest and work successfully for the national quality press. This issue is written by science journalists from all over Europe for science journalists. We hope that what is collected in this issue will provide food for thought about our everyday work.
