JSSEALIST -- Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia

About JSSEALIST

The JSSEALIST provides scholars and graduate students with a forum to discuss and inform about matters relating to Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia.

1) What can be posted? Information that is relevant to list members who are engaged in Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia such as:
a. Conference, Workshop and Seminar Information
b. Calls for joint research projects
c. Scholarship and grant information
d. Discussion of current events in Japan

2) Non-moderated list: We will operate the list as an open list. That means every member can post freely from their registered accounts by sending an email to jssealist@mailmanlist.net . However, postings by non-members to this address will be channeled to a moderator for approval. To prevent abuse of the list, the first posting by any new member will also be channeled through the moderator.

3) Membership: The list is free to everyone. We reserve the right to remove members who abuse the list for purposes that are outside of the list’s objectives or who do not follow mailing list etiquette.

4) Amount of Mail: We hope for healthy participation, but based on experiences with other lists we do not expect a large amount of traffic to your email accounts. However, members can opt to receive only one digest email per day that contains all postings of that day. Alternatively, you can use your email program to automatically filter emails into a specific subfolder. You can do this by creating a “jssealist” subfolder with a rule that filters every email with “jssealist” in the header into this folder.

5) Signing up: You can sign up on this information page as below. You will then receive a confirmation email to which you just have to reply to finalize the membership. Please check your spam folders if you do not receive the confirmation mail in your regular inbox.

6) Languages: Please post either in English or Japanese.

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the JSSEALIST Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
